Left Behind

Bits of paper scattered everywhere,
The suffocating odour,
Mascara marks all over the bedsheets,
A moist pillow ..

Messy hair,
A torn gaze,
And a look of dismay n hatred.

She sat there on the floor,
Shivering and shaking at intervals.
The faint sound of music,
Floated in the air.

The pain ran deep,
Deeper than it looked.

She sat there,
Tired and weary.
Living in the fake world,
Dead inside.

Trapped inside the locked room,
She sat listening to the deafening silence,
Staring into the emptiness,
The starless, pitch black sky
Reflecting the ocean of her thoughts.

It was late into the night.
May be, it was nearing dawn.
Motionless, lifeless,
Everything was at a still.

The fan was creaking softly overhead.
Some insect was buzzing outside.
The tick-tock of the wall clock.
The vehicles racing down the road.
The soft rustle of the breeze,
And a moonless sky.

Her heartbeat was racing up n down,
Pacing with each thought,
Plunging with each memory,
Gripping, then drowning her inside.

Every source of happiness,
Of care and warmth,
Stolen away with time,
Shattered into countless pieces.

Little joys of laughter,
Gleaming streaks of hope,
The fragments of life.
Tearing away from her.

Leaving her behind with nothing,
But the burning agony for destruction,
For leaving everything behind and running away,
And ending it forever.
